# How Do I Create a Company?

## Steps to creating a company and/or requesting a client ID.

**Before creating a new company, please do a search in HubSpot to make sure it does not already exist! This will help eliminate duplicate records.**

### **To Create a New Company Record in HubSpot:**

1. Under Companies, click the **Create company** button in the upper right and sidebar will appear.
2. Please complete all the applicable fields.  
     1. ***Company Domain Name***  
        This is the company's website.
     2. ***Company Name***  
        Enter the company name you want to create. When creating a municipality, please include Village, City, Town, etc. as well as the state. *Example: City of Aurora, IL*  
        This will ensure that companies are easily distinguishable in the list view, especially in cases where different states have companies with the same name. (e.g. New Berlin, WI vs New Berlin, IL)
     3. ***Client Code Stage***  
            1. ***Client ID Not Needed*** – Select this when the company is a prospect, or you just want to get their name in HubSpot. This option is ideal when we are only associating them to a deal in the lead stage, or no deal at all.
            2. ***Client ID Requested*** – Select this when you need a client ID.
            3. ***Client ID Created*** – Only used by Thomas or Meredith.
     4. ***B&W Client Manager***  
        This is the same Client Manager tied to the firm's record in Vantagepoint.
     5. ***B&W Asst. Client Manager***  
        This is the same Assistant Client Manager tied to the firm's record in Vantagepoint. Leave blank if one does not exist
     6. ***Street Address, City, State, Postal Code***  
        Enter in the address, City, State, and Postal Code
     7. ***Contractor***  
        Is this company a contractor - yes or no
     8. ***Supplier***  
        Is this company a supplier - yes or no
     9. ***Client Survey***  
        This should be answered by the company's Client Manager. It is asking if the company/client should receive our client survey after we've completed their projects. Leave blank if you do not know.
     10. ***B&W Client Region***  
         Select the state responsible for the relationship. When selecting IL, please leave blank the dependent property of IL Region. That will be completed by someone else.
     11. ***Type***  
         What best describes the company.
     12. ***Market***  
         What best the describe market of the company.
     13. ***Create Client Key General Folder***  
         Do you need a general folder created for this client (assuming one does not exist)?
     14. ***Budget Year Start Date***  
         Leave blank if you do not know.
     15. ***Budget Year End Date***  
         Leave blank if you do not know.

Click **Create** and your company record will be created.
